Frequently Asked Questions

What type of services do you provide?

Here at Little Lighthouse Nannies, LLC, we are happy to do the heavy lifting in evaluating, interviewing and assessing prospective nannies. Our team assesses family applications to best connect nannies and families with what their needs require. We are a host to connect the two parties. We are not a placement agency.

What does my monthly membership fee include?

Members receive access to connect with each other to secure childcare services. Your $15 monthly subscription will also provide access to exclusive member resources including, but not limited to: safety tools, educational literature and podcasts for parents, standard rate practices for paying your nanny, tips for “screen free” activities with children, a monthly blog, etc.

What kind of screening do your nannies go through?

Our nannies go through a thorough evaluation process. First, there is an application to collect general information. Then, we run each candidate through a national background check. Lastly, we put together a social profile consisting of an interview where we assess their understanding of common childcare practices and professionalism. We check all references and require current CPR and First Aid Certifications.

Why do your nannies have to be 18 or older?

We are looking for nannies that meet a level of maturity that fosters independence, personal accountability, and maturity, for ones actions.

When can I expect a response to my application?

Once all documentation is received, we begin the evaluation of your application. You should receive a response within 30 days.

How do I report a safety concern to Little Lighthouse Nannies?

If you feel that a child is in danger, immediately reach out to local authorities. You’ll find some information regarding signs of abuse and mistreatment in children in our Member Resources.

Why is there an application fee and a subscription fee?

Your application fee is the cost of the time our team spends screening your application, creating your file, and submitting a background check before inviting you to be a member at littlelighthousenannies.com

The subscription fee gives you access to our database of nannies in your area as well as our exclusive member resources, newsletter, and blog.

Who can see my profile information?

Only approved members on littlelighthousenannies.com are able to find your profile. (e.g., Nanny members can view Family member profiles. Nannies cannot view other nannies. Families cannot view other families). Those members will also be able to contact you via our internal messaging system.

What is Little Lighthouse Nannies refund policy?

Little Lighthouse Nannies, LLC does not issue refunds. Your application fee is a non-refundable deposit for the processing and evaluation of your profile regardless of membership outcome. In the event you would like to cancel your subscription, you may do so at any time and your card will not be charged the following month.

What happens when I cancel my subscription?

Once we receive your request to cancel, we will remove all of your personal data from our system. This includes your member profile, payment information, and access to our exclusive member resources. Please allow up to 30 days for this change to take effect.

Why do you require an application and evaluation before allowing members to join?

Before inviting you to join our platform, we do a thorough screening of your background to get to know you better and gauge your level of trustworthiness, respect and accountability. In doing so, we endeavor to only allow the most qualified applicants access to our platform to network with local families.

Why are Family Applications screened?

Little Lighthouse Nannies, LLC values quality members on every level. We require a foundation of knowledge on each family we allow onto our platform. This enables us to offer a higher caliber of employer to our nannies, just as we offer the highest quality nanny to each family.

How do I pay my nanny?

Payments between family and employed nanny will be remitted directly between the two parties. Little Lighthouse Nannies, LLC is a third-party networking community that does not employ nannies directly. We understand that you love your new nanny. Please keep in mind that your nanny is a paid employee. Your nanny should be paid fair, legal wages based on the written agreement between both parties. This means on the books, per your local market. See the Nanny Pay Calculator on the Resources Page for more information.
